Day 13, April 15, 2026
It’s cold on the Haldane, spring is “out there somewhere,” and Will’s dispatch is curtailed due to freezing batteries—with a day off ahead of him tomorrow.

Yeah ... April 15th, day 13. This is my second try on this. I think the batteries on my sat phone are freezing up. It's pretty cold in the tent. It was minus 10 when I got inside the tent, when the sun -- it was still up. Probably be about 25 below today -- or tonight. And I'm on gas rations now. Meaning I'll use just gas for cooking and melting water. Very little extra gas for staying warm. But the 24 hour light is coming and spring is on its way, hopefully out there somewhere. But it was a beautiful day though, it got probably minus 5 or so, maybe close to zero. No wind, absolutely clear. Very hard packed travel on the Haldane River. I'm traveling with one load right now, it's a little bit of a struggle. I've taken ... I've hauled 10 days now with two days' break, so I've been really putting out today. I'm going to be taking a day off tomorrow. My body is holding up really well, no muscle strains or anything. It was a tough week or so getting started on this expedition as it always is. But I'm into things now. And so ... any rate, I'm just going to check out here. I think my batteries are going to freeze up again. In fact, I might be talking to myself here on this phone. I'm going to get my meal going, 10:30 at night here. And it's Will here, on the Haldane River over and out.
Will’s location at the end of Day 13. He will be taking a day off tomorrow, so his position then should be unchanged. Visit Will’s interactive map for complete control of magnification and orientation.
